Ecolan is a joint-stock company with entirely public capital, established by 59 member municipalities (equivalent to 67 municipalities). The company meets the needs related to the coordinated management of waste (collection, transportation, recovery/recycling, and disposal of municipal solid waste) for a population of about 200,000 inhabitants, residing in a large territory that includes the areas of Frentano, Sangro-Aventino, Ortonese-Marrucino, and Alto Vastese.

The Need:
Ecolan sought our support for automating administrative and sales activities, geolocating vehicles and users via GPS, acquiring reports from the web and app, managing collection activities, and facilitating communication between different business processes.
The Solution:
Together with Ecolan, we developed several customized solutions, including a service for monitoring delivery and collection operations using NFC tags on bins and containers, and a service for reading tags with NFC readers and mobile apps. We also created tools for managing recycling centers and authorization processes (with SAP Fiori web technology), for monitoring and controlling ecological islands with Intel IoT systems, and for recognizing users and controlling access to ecological islands with Ecocard NFC.
